Stephan Lake Lodge is a remote wilderness lodge

Stephan Lake Lodge is located 50 air miles Northeast of the small town of Talkeetna and 140 air miles from Anchorage in the spectacular Talkeetna Mountains. Our lodge has been in operation since the late 1960’s and is one of the finest wilderness lodges in Alaska. We offer a casual atmosphere and comfortable accommodations. The lodge overlooks Stephan Lake and the jagged peaks of the Talkeetna Mountain range. Our large lounge has a natural stone fireplace and is a wonderful place to relax and share stories of the day’s adventure.

Outdoor Channel’s TV Show“Beyond the Hunt”

2012 filming of an Alaskan Grizzly hunt episode at our lodge. Outdoor Channel and The Best of the West produced a phenomenal episode “Bear Necessities” at Stephan Lake Lodge. Unique to Stephan Lake Lodge is our series of outlying cabins. These rustic log cabins are warm, dry, and comfortable. They form a loop through the Alaskan wilderness and are a comfortable day’s walk from each other.

Handgun Bear Hunt atStephan Lake Lodge

HANDGUN BEAR HUNT – We had the pleasure of having our friends from firearms manufacturer Smith & Wesson visit our lodge and film an episode of “Smith & Wesson USA” to promote their 50-caliber revolver, the S&W 500 Magnum. Smith & Wesson filmed a bear hunt at Stephan Lake Lodge to promote their S&W 500 / 50-caliber revolver.

Stephan Lake was an astounding experience. Not only a great visit to a beautiful lake, but a touching family atmosphere. The hosts were excellent. This is the kind of place to take a memorial trip with family and friends . It was on the top of my bucket list, and still is! Not sure how to top it. Definitely going back. Serenity.

Best Bachelorette party! Was able to go fishing, swimming& boating. The flight was spectacular as well as employees. It’s a hunting lodge also so someone got a bear and it was massive. The sun set around 2 am so it was party around the clock. Such an amazing time there.

Stephan is a premier fishing lodge that offers fantastic fishing for a variety of species – it’s a flyfisher’s dream; you sight-cast to 30-50 pound king salmon finning lazily in the current. I’ve caught as many as 75 to 100 trout a day. Singer John Denver has visited the lodge twice. Foreign film crews have used the lodge as a base of operations for major films.

At Stephan, Sanchez hooked and landed 76 kings in one week ranging from 30 to 60 pounds. He later received notification from the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame that he had swept all the line-class fly fishing categories from 2 to 16-pound tippit, as well as the unlimited category.
